If you are heavier than me a mattress will feel softer.

I weigh 12 stone, 76kg and I'm 5'10", 178cm tall, all our firmness rating are how they feel to me, not manufacturers' ratings.

Carl's advice

When buying a new mattress you are interested in 4 things:

* Is it comfortable? how can I get that good night's sleep
* Can I afford it?
* When will I get it?
* How long will it last?

That was easy, you may like to throw in an extra criteria of “I want my bed to look a certain way to fit my decor or design” but once you close your eyes that no longer counts, comfort is the key and, to be quite frank, once you have found the mattress to suit you then if that mattress is on a divan with drawers, a wooden frame or Faux Leather bed then the appearance is down to you and at The Divan Centre we have a great selection in each category.

Comfort: I have tried and tested all the models we have on display and to help you decide each mattress has a rating of how it feels to me, so you can compare your build to mine and this will help you to reach the best decision for you. If you are heavier than me (I am 12 stone) then a mattress will feel softer to you.

Price: I have put together a range of items at a variety of prices but I have deliberately stopped short of offering you many different items at the same price as this will make it much more difficult for you to choose. With our starter models as you increase in price you increase in both quality and how long the product will last but when purchasing for example, a Total Comfort 1500 or a Rosedale 1500, the difference in price is for the way a mattress “feels” the extra won’t make the mattress last any longer.

Delivery: We will telephone you to make delivery arrangements, this way we ensure that all efforts are made to keep your waiting at home to a minimum.
We have a large selection of models in stock which can be dispatched to you on our next available vehicle and with items listed as a 2 person delivery the delivery team can call you an hour before arrival so you don’t have to stay in all day.

Smaller items such as bed frames without mattresses or flat packed furniture will arrive by over night carrier, this ensures that the price is as competitive as possible but this could mean a longer time waiting for your delivery, however if you wish to change a small item to our 2 person team, no problem, give us a call and for a £20 fee we can arrange this for you.
Remember if you order a large and a small item it will arrive together, if the large item is free delivery then there is no charge for the extra, such as a headboard or bedding.

Pillows and Duvets are sent by Royal mail as it’s the most efficient way to get them to you.

Longevity: The age old question of how long will a bed last! My guide is to how long I feel that it will last me and stay in a reasonable condition, this means that if my advice is that it will last 4-5 years that is because I think you will get good service for that time, you can keep it much longer but don’t blame me when you can feel all the lumps and bumps.
