Famous TV show locations you can stay at overnight

Fancy taking a break somewhere you have seen on the TV?

21st April, 2021
by Carl Walsh

From Bridgerton to Game of Thrones, some of your favourite TV shows or films have some of the most beautiful filming locations, and you can actually stay overnight at these locations to get the real stardom experience.

There are numerous fictional movies and tv hotels and homes, like Bates Motel or the Grand Budapest Hotel, but there are many that are real working businesses that offer guests a chance to experience some of their favourite movie or TV locations, while also offering a great night’s sleep.

So, Bed Guru has scoured the internet to find the best TV and film places you can stay at overnight, and here’s what we found:

Love Island

The new season of Love Island will grace our screens at the end of June, and this got us thinking if you can stay over at the infamous Love Island villa?

After doing some research, we found that most of the Love Island villas are privately owned, so they are not available to rent for holiday with your friends. But, we did find some similar Love Island villas that might take your fancy!

This modern house set on the hillside between Deia and Soller on Mallorca’s spectacular west coast with sea and mountain views might just hit the spot if you are a love island fan.

The villa is in a quiet and private location, but only a five-minute drive away from the hustle and bustle. The luxury retreat sleeps 6, so, if you want to get your best friends together for a Love Island themed getaway, you have found the perfect place!

Great British Bake Off

This year's Great British Bake Off is set in the Gardens of Down Hall Hotel in Essex. The historic hotel has 98 rooms available, each individually designed to reflect grandeur and elegance.

Set in 110 acres of park and woodland, Down Hall is the perfect destination for a relaxing break. You can discover the hidden corners of the Down Hall estate using a walking map, play a game of tennis or simply watch the world go by whilst enjoying Afternoon Tea in the historic lounge.

For reviving and relaxing beauty treatments, you can visit the recently opened, luxury, Eden Spa beauty treatment rooms.

Bridgerton

You can now book a Bridgerton-inspired staycation at Inglethorpe Hall in Norfolk – and guests will even be able to attend their own formal ball!

Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders fan rejoice! You can now spend the night in a 1920s Birmingham-inspired room, at the ‘Peaky Blinders’ bar in Southport.

The bar opened in 2015, and with an original period feel, oak floor, and a polished bar, it was only natural for the owners to turn it into the BBC2 series’ accommodation.

The only catch for Brummie fans is that it’s in Southport, but if you are a true fan, you will make the journey to feel like Tommy Shelby for the night.

Key locations in Sex Education are filmed in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, on the Welsh border. The aerial shot introducing the series follows the River Wye and leads o the distinctive house that Otis shares with his sex-therapist mother, Jean.

For those that have become emotionally attached to TV shows over the pandemic period, this could be the perfect way to get even closer to your obsession with your favourite shows.

Comment from a psychologist, Dr. Balu Pitchiah a Chelsea Pharmacy Medical Clinic, on why we become so emotionally attached to our favourite TV shows:

‘ Watching good programs on TV can contribute to positive emotions that are comforting and activate the brain’s reward pathways. When we feel good, our minds open and our awareness broadens, allowing us to think creatively. As a consequence, a series of psychological processes help to incrementally build positive resources such as resilience that can be drawn upon in times of need such as the lockdown and Pandemic ‘-

And from Neuro-linguistic programming and hypnotherapy coach, Rebecca Lockwood:

“Watching TV can be an escape from the real world. When we are really into a program we can get immersed into it, lowering what’s called the critical faculty (or critical factor) in our brain which allows suggestions into the subconscious mind and creates a perception that things are true and we immerse ourselves into them. This is why when we are not into something we are watching we will question if it’s even possible for it to happen and the critical factor will discard and discredit it. It is possible that lockdown has changed our relationship with TV, with people spending most time at home watching TV and binging on different series people will have spent more time watching and immersing themselves into TV shows. I think TV has been a comfort for many people, which for some may continue. As lockdown begins to ease and we get busier in our lives I think we will get back to our usual routines. For some that is binging on TV shows and for others who may now be spending their time commuting to and from work for example the time may be taken up with other activities or even the travel to and from work.”

So, do you fancy staying overnight at one of the above locations? Let us know over on Twitter which one takes your fancy!
