You're able to not only disconnect from your electronic devices, but also disconnect from the stresses of day-to-day life as you become engrossed in the story and the lives of the characters.

Released back in 2016 this gripping book has gained traction thanks to TikTok over the past year. Now with over 950,000 5 star reviews on GoodReads, this heartbreaking yet empowering fiction deserves a spot on your reading list.

2. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, by Taylor Jenkins Reid 

This book combines so many genres that it's truly got something for everyone, rooted in historical fiction, LGBT and romance we can't stop recommending this book. This book tells the story of the glamourous yet scandalous life of Evelyn Hugo, an Old Hollywood star. Released in 2017 the book now has over 1 million ratings on GoodReads and maintains a 4.47-star rating.

3. Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?, by Dr. Julie Smith 

Want a nonfiction book that has the power to change your emotional and mental health? This self-help book  is the perfect eye-opener and page-turner. Tackling the everyday issues that affect us all, this book provides coping mechanisms and practical solutions to change the way we think and behave. Released only in January 2022 this book is making waves through the reading community and is definitely a read everyone should invest time into.

4. How to Kill Your Family, by Bella Mackie

5. Normal People, by Sally Rooney 

Following the complex friendship and relationship between Connel and Marianne, this contempoary romance novel will leave your heart bursting, but also slightly broken. First released in 2018, the novel was then later turned into a drama series on BBC Three and Hulu in 2018. 

6. The Suble Art of Not Giving a F*ck, by Mark Manson

Our final recommendation is another self-help book, but this one is a little different. This book has been dubbed the 'generation-defining self-help guide. If you want to be a truly happier person without having to be positive all the time, then this is the book for you!
