The Yorke Arms - Nidderdale Valley
An ivy clad 18th century coaching house and shooting lodge, nestled in an outstanding area of natural beauty, with a Michelin starred restaurant. The History Boys' creator Alan Bennett even stayed the night.
Here, spacious classic bedrooms and contemporary split level courtyard apartments await your sleepy head. So polish off your complimentary three course a la carte dinner, cooked by one of Britain's six female Michelin chefs, and bed down. A full Yorkshire breakfast in the morning might be enough to tempt you out of your luxury four poster bed.
Walton Hall, Waterton Park Hotel & Spa - Wakefield
The very first nature reserve, just a short drive from Wakefield, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Sandal Castle.
Imagine wheeling your overnight bag across the bridge, into the four star Georgian mansion on the other side. Walton Hall offers the most romantic of retreats, secluded on an island in a stunning Yorkshire lake. The views from all 41 bedrooms, we're told, are breath taking. There's a spa and championship golf course, ancient woodland and rolling parkland, to enjoy at your leisure.
Dent Station - Yorkshire Dales National Park
Few can say they've spent a night at the highest mainland station in England, on one of the world's most scenic railways. Which makes it all the more special. This self-catering holiday cottage, full of original features, promises uninterrupted views of Yorkshire's famed hills from your bedside.
But Dent Station wasn't always so tranquil - the Grade II stop once saw 90 trains crowded with Victorian tourists, arrive daily on their way to Scotland. Oddly enough, it sits four miles from Dent village. Perfect excuse for a walk. We'll level with you. This little spot technically sits in Cumbrian part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. But it still has its toe in Yorkshire, right?
Swinton Park - Nidderdale
Be the king of this 17th century Victorian Gothic castle. Just an hour from Leeds, Swinton Park is as 'Yorkshire' as luxury hotels come. Here, a full Yorkshire breakfast fuels your strolls through 200 acres of parkland - with its large fishing lakes, deer park and bird of prey centre.
All 31 lavish rooms, each quite different, are named after your favourite Yorkshire places. Including The Headingley, The Whitby, and The Wensleydale. You can even sleep in the red ivy clad, triple story turret, with its dreamy panoramic views.
Camp Katur - Kirklington
Off-the-grid and rather alternative, Camp Katur is the crème-de-la-crème of glamping in Yorkshire. We're talking Glastonbury-esque bell tents, complete with fairy lights and bunting. With log cabins, tepees and a safari tent! There's a BBQ kit to devour upon your arrival, musical instruments for hire, and a seat waiting for you around the huge communal camp fire.
Their utterly transparent domes offer panoramic views of the night sky and forest. Star gaze from the comfort of your double bed and sheepskin rug. Just imagine the sunrise.
Grays Court – York
If you like the creature comforts of a city, then head to Grays Court in York. Guests have slept in this family-owned boutique hotel and awoken to the gentle chiming of the Minster Bells since 1080.
The beds, not unlike works of art, certainly have something to do with it. Just take the Georgian staircase to the Edwards Suite, or peek at the William IV four poster bed in the Willoughby!
Suites with windows overlooking the medieval York City Walls, freestanding bathtubs or double walk-in monsoon showers offer the perfect place to retire - after filling up on Nyetimber English sparkling wine and a delicious supper.
Low Mill Guest House - Yorkshire Dales
On England's shortest river sits a Yorkshire watermill which, from the outside, looks like all others. Except it's not. Lovingly restored to full working order, today you'll find king size wooden sleigh beds and freestanding copper baths where sacks of corn were once piled inside.
Bedrooms which boast historic hoists and large pulley wheels and original ceiling features make for a rather splendid setting!
Today Low Mill Guest House is a home-from-home for cyclists, photographers and wildlife enthusiasts, who use it as a base to explore the Yorkshire Dales near the market town of Bainbridge.
Shepherds Hut – Bilsdale
If you're anything like us, there's nothing more relaxing than a bed in the middle of Yorkshire. So that's exactly what you'll get. This secluded, one-of-a-kind hut in Bilsdale is the perfect spot for some relaxation. Hand-built by local craftsmen, it comes complete with a wood burner, BBQ and food hamper full of treats.
Time it right, and lambs will be your neighbours here. Whether you wander the Cleveland Way, fish in the lake, go pony trekking or head into market towns, there’s plenty to do.
