Best beds for small bedrooms | Bed Guru

Sometimes, making the most of small spaces can be difficult, particularly when it comes to buying a bed.

When searching for beds for small bedrooms, it’s crucial to prioritise space-saving designs that can offer both comfort and functionality.

If you’re looking for small beds that can fit into more compact bedrooms, we have put together a list of the best small beds so you can make the most out of every inch of your bedroom.

Small beds for couples

If you and your partner want to optimise space in your small bedroom, you may need to opt for a smaller bed. Here are some options:

Double beds

You may love the idea of a king-size bed but sometimes it just isn’t practical. With a standard double bed your sleeping space isn’t overly compromised, you and your partner should both still be able to stick to your sides of the bed.

Our UK double beds with storage underneath are the complete space-saving solution for couples. Not only do you get a bed comfortable for two, but you also get somewhere to store bedding and heavy clothing.

Small double beds

UK small double beds are slightly bigger than a single bed, but slightly smaller than a double bed. Measuring 122cm in width and 190cm in length, small double beds are 15cm narrower than a standard UK double bed.

Small double beds are typically best for single people who want a little extra wiggle room, however, they also work for couples who are struggling for space. If you and your partner are happy to get a little closer at night in order to save floor space, then a small double may be for you.

Kids' beds for small rooms

Kid's bedrooms are usually quite small. It requires a near-enough genius to figure out a way to fit all their children’s clothes, toys and books in their bedroom whilst also leaving enough floor space for them to play.

Cabin beds

Cabin beds are an ideal solution for a kid's bedroom. Clutter can make a small room feel even smaller and kids rooms can very quickly become very messy. With a cabin bed, there’s storage space for them to put all their toys so they can keep their room tidy.

Cabin beds are single beds that come with a variety of storage options. Some come with a desk space or extra drawers and shelves.

Bunk bed

If you’re not just limited on space, but also bedrooms, bunk beds can make it easier for kids to share a room. As bunk beds consist of two beds on top of one another you get two full-size single beds with the footprint of just one.

If you’ve got a little more floor space to play with, some bunk bed designs come with one double bed on the bottom and a single bed on top. They come in a range of designs including wooden and metal, with additional storage or a desk. You could even go a little out of the box and opt for a themed bunk bed such as our safari bunk bed, London bus bunk bed, or our campervan bunk bed.

Single beds

The most obvious choice for small bedrooms is a single bed. They can help save space in children’s bedrooms, guest rooms or if you’re living alone:

Narrow single beds

Narrow single beds measure 75cm by 190cm. They are 15cm narrower than the standard UK single bed. Slim single beds are a good way to save space in kids' bedrooms, leaving more floor space for them to move around and play.

Short single bed

Similarly, using short single beds in small rooms is another great way to save floor space. Especially for shorter adults, teenagers or kids who may not need a full-length bed. Shorter-length beds can work as an excellent transitional option for children moving from a cot or toddler bed to a regular bed.

To find a shorter-length bed, check out our custom-size bed options. Simply choose a style of bed and mattress before then choosing the right size to fit your space.
